Three brothers killed in bus-motorcycle collision in Patharghata, Barguna

Three brothers died in a collision between a bus and motorcycle in Patharghata, Barguna. The accident occurred near Sonar Bangla School in Rayhanpur union around 7:30 am on Saturday.

The deceased are Naeemuzzaman Shubho (22), Md. Shanto (14) and Md. Nadim (8), sons of Nasir Khan from Tikikata village in Mathbaria upazila’s Baishkura union. Police have arrested the bus driver and helper. Patharghata Police Station OC Mehedi Hasan confirmed the incident.

Eyewitness Habibur Rahman said an empty bus of Rajib Transport was speeding towards Dhaka from Patharghata around 7:30 am. Meanwhile, the three brothers were traveling from Mathbaria by motorcycle. They died on the spot in the head-on collision. Locals detained the driver and helper before police took them into custody.

The victims’ father Nasir Khan said his eldest son Shubho had returned home for Eid holiday from Dhaka on Friday. A cousin had given Shubho some shopping items to deliver. The three brothers were going from Mathbaria to Patharghata when the accident happened.

Patharghata Police Station OC Md. Mehedi Hasan said legal proceedings are ongoing. Action will be taken based on the family’s complaint after autopsy.
