A protest march was held in Lakshmipur under the banner of Chhatra League to protest the death sentence of seven Awami League leaders. Videos of their procession have gone viral on social media.
The procession was held in the Border Bazar area of Raipur Upazila at around 11:30 am today, Thursday, September 17.
The leaders and activists held the procession to protest the death sentence handed down by the International Crimes Tribunal against seven Awami League leaders, including Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Inan.
A video of the procession has gone viral on social media Facebook.
The video shows that 15-20 leaders and activists participated under the leadership of Zayed Ibne Miraj, joint convener of Lakshmipur Municipal Chhatra League. During this time, they raised various slogans.
It is learnt that 40-50 leaders and activists led by Laxmipur Municipal Chhatra League joint convener Zayed Ibn Miraj took part in the procession. Their slogans were ‘Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu, Sheikh Hasina will come, Bangladesh will laugh, Sheikh Hasina is not afraid, we have not left the road, Saddam Bhai is not afraid, we have not left the road, Inan Bhai is not afraid, we have not left the road’.
In this regard, Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Wahid Parvez said, “The procession did not take place anywhere in Sadar. I have come to know that it took place in the Raipur Border Bazar area.”
Raipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan said, “We do not know about the procession. We will investigate and take necessary legal action.”
