Renowned Islamic speaker Mufti Ghiyasuddin At Taheri has now spoken out about the viral incident of a teacher being slapped for sexually harassing a 7-year-old child at a madrasa in Gazipur.

Mufti Taheri, referring to this issue, said, “A monk kissed a child. A boy went, why did he kiss him? He slapped the monk. With one slap, the entire Maulvipara was set on fire.”

He said, “Young boys and girls will study in madrasas, why would you kiss them? Since there is a history, rapes are happening inside many madrasas. Even if you kiss them now, they will be suspicious, since the history is not good.”

Mufti Taheri made these remarks during his keynote address on Friday night, October 23, at the Haji Azgar Ali High School grounds in Shakpura Union in Boalkhali, Chittagong.

Mufti Taheri said, “Now all the clerics say, ‘He gave kisses, he caressed the child, it is Sunnah. He is beating the Huzoor, he is demanding justice. There is law in the country, there is justice under the law. Why did he beat him without taking legal action? When small children of the madrasa are raped, where is your protest?”

Criticizing the Maulana’s political partisanship, Mufti Taheri said, “Now the fire has gone out. The broker maulvis—they are brokers. The party that comes to power, half of it stays with it. The party that is not in power, the other half stays with them. And the rest stays with the opposition party. Another one is there to take the bundle at the bottom.”

It is worth mentioning that on October 21, Moslem Ahmed, the vice principal of the Koriul Quran International Madrasa located in Auchpara, Tongi, Gazipur, was accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old child. The child’s family members went to the madrasa to inquire about the matter. When the teacher confessed to the crime, the child’s father got angry and slapped him. The crowd present also beat up the teacher.

Upon receiving the information, the police went to the spot, rescued the teacher and arrested him. The child’s family has filed a case under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act in this incident. In addition, the madrasa authorities have also filed a counter-complaint on charges of vandalism and money laundering.
