“Is my son still alive?”: No trace of missing son after 45 days, father breaks down in tears at press conference

Md. Rahat, a 15-year-old teenager, went out with his friends and never returned home. 45 long days have passed, but no trace of him has been found to this day. Only his beloved bicycle and a pair of shoes were left lying on the deserted banks of the Padma River.

The victim’s father, farmer Md. Munnuch Ali, has sought the intervention of the administration in a tearful voice, yearning to get his missing son back alive.

This resident of Bhayna village in Sujanagar upazila expressed his desperate desire to rescue his child at a press conference organized at the Pabna Journalists Union office today, Thursday, September 24, at 4 pm.

According to family sources, Rahat was awaiting the results of his 2026 SSC examination from Satbaria High School.

On the afternoon of August 9, he went out for a ride with his friends on his bicycle. Although he was supposed to return home by 7 pm, Rahat did not return. After searching the homes of relatives and acquaintances unsuccessfully, a mysterious incident occurred the next morning.

Rahat’s used bicycle and shoes were found abandoned on the banks of the Padma River next to the Majpara Eidgah ground, adjacent to the Gupinpur cemetery in Manikhat Union.

The discovery of the bicycle and shoes in a secluded location far from home further worried the family.

At the press conference, Rahat’s father complained, “A CNG vehicle and a few motorcycles were parked suspiciously in front of the Majpara Eidgah ground between 6 and 7 pm on the day his son went missing. We believe those vehicles may have something to do with Rahat’s disappearance.”

A general diary (GD) was filed at Sujanagar Police Station on August 10, the day after the incident, and Munnuch Ali later filed a kidnapping case on August 16. The case is currently being investigated by the Detective Branch (DB) of the district police.

However, despite the ongoing case and investigation, the entire family is living in extreme anxiety as no clues have been found for a long month and a half.

At the press conference, Munnuch Ali, in a tearful voice, demanded that Rahat be rescued alive as soon as possible. “We want to trust the law enforcement agencies without filing charges against any specific person. For 45 days, we have not known whether our son is alive or not, or where he is. Every moment is spent in agony. I have only one humble request to the administration – expedite the investigation and return my innocent son to us.”
