Arshdeep Singh Named ICC Men’s T20 Cricketer of the Year 2024

India’s left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has been named the ICC Men’s T20 Cricketer of the Year for 2024, recognizing his stellar performances throughout the year, including his pivotal role in India’s T20 World Cup triumph.

The ICC announced the honor on Saturday, with Arshdeep edging out competition from Australia’s Travis Head, Pakistan’s Babar Azam, and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza.

In 2024, Arshdeep played 18 T20 matches, claiming 36 wickets at an impressive average of 15.31, the second-highest tally by an Indian bowler in T20 cricket for a single year. His contributions were especially critical in India’s victorious T20 World Cup campaign, where he picked up 17 wickets in eight matches, sharing the tournament’s highest wicket-taker spot with Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi.

While several bowlers, such as Saudi Arabia’s Usman Najib, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga, UAE’s Junaid Siddique, and Hong Kong’s Ehsan Khan, took more wickets than Arshdeep in 2024, they also played significantly more matches.

Arshdeep’s selection as the ICC Cricketer of the Year was determined through votes from ICC’s voting academy, media representatives, and fans, further cementing his reputation as one of the world’s finest T20 bowlers.
