Local Awami League and Chhatra League activists and supporters attacked district Chhatra Dal vice-president Manjurul Alam Bappi and party leaders and activists over a call recording in Satkhira.

At least 10 people were injured in the incident that took place in the Ghona area of ​​Sadar Upazila on Saturday night, August 8.

Immediately after the incident, the police conducted a raid and arrested two people involved in the incident.

Among the injured are district Chhatra Dal vice-president Manjurul Alam Bappi, his brother Rajib Hossain, Abdur Rakib, Bakul Haider, Zahid Hasan, Abdus Salam, Tahidul Hossain and Mahamudul Hasan.

They were rescued and admitted to Satkhira Medical College Hospital.

According to injured Chhatra Dal leader Manjurul Alam Bappi, on Saturday they came across a call recording of Chhatra League leader from Ghona area Md. Nazmul Hasan, in which he claims that indecent comments were made about a Chhatra Dal leader and BNP.

Zahid Hossain, the president of Ghona Union Chhatra Dal, went to Nazmul to inquire about this matter. He was detained there.

After receiving this news, Bappi went to the spot with some Chhatra Dal leaders and activists, and immediately local Awami League and Chhatra League leaders and activists attacked them. The 10 people injured in the attack were later rescued by locals and taken to Satkhira Medical College Hospital.

According to several local residents, as soon as the news of the detention of Ghona Union Chhatra Dal president Zahid Hossain over a call recording spread, 10 to 15 leaders and activists, including district Chhatra Dal vice-president Manjurul Alam Bappi, rushed there.

Immediately after that, they were attacked by Ghona Union Chhatra League leader Md. Nazmul Hasan and his father Laltu member.

District Chhatra Dal president Abu Raihan claimed that the Chhatra League carried out the attack on Chhatra Dal leaders and activists with the support of local Jamaat. He strongly condemned the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of the attackers.

According to Shahadat Hossain Pramanik, general secretary of the district Chhatra Dal, Awami League followers carried out this attack on the vice-president of the district Chhatra Dal.

He also condemned the incident and demanded the arrest of those involved.

District BNP member secretary Zahid Hasan Dabloo alleged that some Awami League leaders led by him attacked Chhatra Dal leader Manjurul Alam Bappi in a terrorist manner. He also demanded the immediate arrest of the attackers.

In this regard, Satkhira Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Masudur Rahman said that the police inspected the scene immediately after receiving the news of the incident.

He also said that two people have already been arrested in connection with the attack, but added that detailed information on this matter will be provided later.
