The results of the Primary Scholarship Examination have been published. Shahina Ferdousi, Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education, announced the results at a press conference organized at the conference room of the International Mother Language Institute at 12 noon today, Sunday, July 12.
It was informed at the press conference that a total of 645,041 students from 78,810 schools across the country registered for this year’s primary scholarship examination. Of them, 419,982 participated in the examination. 79,246 students ultimately received scholarships in the examination, which is 38.87 percent of the total examinees.
The number of female students is higher among the scholarship recipients. A total of 43,354 female students (54.71 percent) and 35,892 male students (45.29 percent) have received scholarships.
Of the total number of scholarship recipients, 32,965 received talent pool scholarships and 46,281 received general scholarships. School-wise, the highest number of scholarships was 57,962 from government primary schools and 9,994 from kindergartens.
District-wise statistics show that students from Dhaka district received the highest number of scholarships in the country, 4,682. On the other hand, students from Bandarban district received the lowest number of scholarships, 188.
Apart from this, the highest number of 8,898 students failed in Dinajpur district.
Currently, students receiving talent pool (merit scholarship) receive 300 taka per month and 225 taka per year as a lump sum. On the other hand, general scholarship recipients receive 225 taka per month and 225 taka per year as a lump sum.
However, if the proposed new structure for 2026 is approved, the scholarship amount will increase. In that case, the monthly allowance for the Talent Pool scholarship will be increased to 600 taka and the monthly allowance for the general scholarship will be increased to 450 taka.
In this regard, Director General of the Department of Primary Education Shahina Ferdousi said at a press conference, “The number of scholarships remains the same (82,500). However, the one-time scholarship for students receiving merit scholarships has been increased from Tk 225 to Tk 450 and from Tk 300 per month to Tk 600. This means it is being doubled.”
