The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Shahinur Alam, the founding president of BNP and former councilor candidate from the capital’s Khilkhet police station.

On Sunday (October 4), a team of RAB-1 arrested him and handed him over to Khilkhet Police Station.

According to police sources, Shahinur Alam Marfat was arrested as a listed accused in the extortion case. He was later handed over to Khilkhet police station for legal proceedings.

According to local sources, Shahinur Alam was the founding president of Khilkhet Thana BNP through Marfat.

He had previously contested the local councilor election but failed to win. Local sources also said that there have been various allegations against him in the area, including extortion, for a long time.

Khilkhet police said that necessary legal steps are being taken after RAB handed him over to the police station. A case is under process against him. He will be sent to court after the legal process.
