The family of Ukyasing Marma, a student who died in the Milestone College tragedy, has been in a new crisis as the shadow of grief continues to fade. The father of the deceased student, Usaymong Marma, is reportedly suffering from extreme insecurity. He has become a target of law enforcement since he approached the court seeking justice for his son’s death and is currently in hiding, fearing arrest.

​The application of the case and the subsequent situation

A handwritten letter by Usaimong Marma, which has gone viral on social media, has made some sensational allegations. According to the letter, on May 7, 2026, he tried to file a case in the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court seeking justice for his son’s untimely death. The complaint mentioned gross negligence on the part of the concerned institution and the names of some high-ranking individuals. However, the court dismissed the case after the initial application.

Midnight terror and DB raid

Usaimong Marma claims that the pressure on him has been increasing since he started the legal battle. In the letter, he mentions:
​“Last Friday night, around 2am to 3am, the Rangamati DB police came to my local area. They started looking for me and my wife in the house next to ours.”

A father who lost his child asks: Is this midnight activity a normal legal process, or a form of intimidation to block the path to justice?

“Is it my crime to sue?”

​Usaimong Marma has now gone into hiding to ensure the safety of himself and his wife. The last part of the letter he wrote while in hiding was very heartbreaking. He asked the countrymen, “Is it my crime to file a case?” This cry of a father who lost his child is now viral on the internet.
