Leaders and activists have hung the party’s signboard at the North District Awami League office in the Dost Building adjacent to the New Market intersection in Chittagong city.
On Monday afternoon, February 16, former joint secretary of North District Chhatra League Shawkat ul Anam and former central Chhatra League member and leader Kazi Suruj went to the office and put up a signboard.
Several other leaders and activists were staying in the building with them at the time.
Shawkat ul Anam told the media, “We have removed the signboard that was put up in the office as the office of the National Citizens Party (NCP) Chittagong Metropolitan City and put up the signboard of the North District Awami League.”
“We removed the lock on the door and entered. We did not find any chairs, tables, microphones, IPS, cupboards, files, etc. that were in our office before. Even the pictures of the late national leaders and the late leaders of the northern district are missing. We locked ourselves in the office again.”
A video circulating on social media on Monday afternoon shows two people putting up stickers with the slogan ‘Chittagong North District Awami League’ on the door of the office, shouting ‘Joy Bangla’.
On October 21 last year, a group of terrorists vandalized and locked the North District Awami League office on the fourth floor of the building.
A video of the day circulating on social media shows a group of terrorists vandalizing a picture of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman outside the office. Arif Moinuddin, the joint coordinator of the National Citizens Party (NCP) for Chittagong Metropolitan City, is also seen in the video.

Earlier, on Sunday, Awami League leaders and activists cleaned the mural depicting the portrait of Bangabandhu, the father of the nation, installed on the wall next to the road on the banks of Laldighi in the city.
After August 5, 2024, the mural was covered with ink and paper.
