Rashed Khan, political assistant to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has commented that Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman was the first to betray July.
He made the comment in response to a question from reporters while touring the ‘Miyar Dalan’ in the traditional Muraridaha area of his native village Jhenaidah on Saturday morning, August 8.
Rashed said, “I knew Shafiqur Rahman as an oppressed leader for so long. However, it became clear that he was wearing a mask after July. He was the first to declare a general amnesty to the Awami League after July – that is, he was the first to betray July.”
He said, “There is no injustice, crime, lie, or hypocrisy that they have committed to come to power. Before the election, we saw that Jamaat-e-Islami sold tickets to paradise.”
Rashed said, “People have now realized that all the positive changes in this country have been brought about by Ziaur Rahman and later by Khaleda Zia. Similarly, the changes in Bangladesh in the future will be under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.”
Regarding the role of National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam, Rashed said, “Nahid was on the right path until July. But the moment he fell into the trap of Jamaat-e-Islami, he went astray.”
Local politicians, public representatives, and the general public of the area were present with him at the time.
