Two young men died, and two others were seriously injured after falling from the roof of a moving train while making a TikTok video in Akhaura, Brahmanbaria.

The accident occurred around 11 a.m. on Wednesday near the Mogra Railway Bridge.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Kaiyum Mia, 22, from Debidwar, Cumilla, and Tarek Mia, 20, from Kasba, Brahmanbaria. One of the injured was identified as Ikram Hossain, 18, while the other remains unidentified.

According to railway police and locals, the incident happened as the Sylhet-bound Paharika Express was passing through the area. The four youths stood up on the roof and began filming. While three of them were recording, they came into contact with an overhead electric wire and fell.

Kaiyum Mia died on the spot. Locals rescued the injured and took them to hospitals. Tarek Mia succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

Dr. Lutfur Rahman, a resident medical officer at Akhaura Upazila Health Complex, confirmed that two critically injured victims were sent to Brahmanbaria General Hospital, where one of them was declared dead.

Dr. Gopa Pal and Dr. Sanjida Haque of Brahmanbaria General Hospital said the two injured had suffered severe head and neck injuries. They were transferred to Dhaka for advanced treatment due to their critical condition.

Akhaura Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Jasim Uddin Khandaker said the victims were filming a TikTok video on the train’s roof when they accidentally touched a high-voltage wire and fell.

The police official urged everyone to avoid traveling on train roofs for safety reasons.
