Student Allegedly Raped After Being Lured Under a Bridge on the Pretext of Offering Chotpoti; Madrasa Hafiz Beaten by Mob

Locals have thrashed a madrasa teacher named Hafez Nazmul Islam (35), who is accused of raping a 7-year-old student in Chaugachha, Jessore, and handed him over to the police.

The incident took place at around 8 pm on Friday, August 7, under the bridge over the Kapotaksha River in Narayanpur upazila.

The detained teacher, Hafez Nazmul Islam, is the son of Abu Sayeed Sheikh of Kulbaria village in Dumuria upazila of Khulna district. He is a teacher at Hafiziya Baitul Mamun Madrasa in Mollapara area of ​​Jessore town.

The victim’s uncle, Emon Hossain, said that his 7-year-old nephew is learning Quran memorization at the madrasa. On Friday morning, Hafez Nazmul took his nephew to his village house in Nayanpur. After being invited there, he took him under the bridge of the Narayanpur Kapotaksh river in the name of feeding him snacks.

Then he raped the child by threatening her. Local people saw the incident and caught the Hafez and beat him up. Later, after receiving information, the police went to the spot and took him into custody.

According to the child’s statement, the family said that the teacher had raped the child and several other children from the madrasa before.

Confirming the incident, Chowgachha Police Station OC Mamunur Rashid said, “Based on the complaint, the accused madrasa teacher has been arrested and a case has been filed. The incident will be investigated and legal action will be taken.”
