Jamaat-Shibir Leaders Listed for Government Allowances Instead of Imams and Muezzins; Two Leaders Relieved of Duties

Two Jamaat-e-Islami leaders have been dismissed for embezzling government honors for mosque imams, muezzins and servants in Keshabpur, Jessore.

Those who were released are Masud Kamal, president of Panjia Union No. 7 Jamaat in the upazila, and Abdul Mutaleb Molla, president of Ward No. 2 Jamaat.

It is learnt that local Jamaat leaders had included the names of Jamaat-e-Shibir leaders and activists in the list prepared for government allowances, excluding genuine imams and muezzins. After this incident was leaked, Jamaat-e-Islami was in a difficult situation.

Supporters of the war criminal party also faced criticism for the corruption, irregularities and corruption of the leaders of Jamaat, a party that seeks ‘rule by honest people’ across the country.

The decision to dismiss the two leaders was made in a hurry to protect their image in the Keshabpur incident. Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Naib-e-Amir Saidur Rahman Sayeed confirmed the matter.

The Upazila Jamaat informed that according to the party decision, from now on they will not be able to be involved in any organizational activities and responsibilities of Jamaat-e-Islami.

According to party sources, the accused leaders were accused of committing irregularities in preparing the list of honorariums allocated to the mosque’s imams, muezzins and khadems by the government. After the matter came up in the initial investigation, the Upazila Jamaat took a strict stand to protect the organization’s image.

In this regard, Nayeb Amir of Keshabpur Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Saidur Rahman Sayeed said that they have been removed from their organizational responsibilities as per the party decision after allegations of irregularities.
