Ambulance Driver Held for Attempting to Rape Homemaker’s Dead Body Inside Ambulance

An ambulance driver has been accused of attempting to rape the body of a housewife in Lohagara, Narail.

It is learnt that the driver was caught red-handed by the mother of the deceased housewife while trying to rape the body inside the ambulance late at night. Later, the local people thrashed the accused and handed him over to the police.

He was arrested in front of the Lohagara Upazila Health Complex at around 7:30 pm on Sunday, August 30.

The victim of the mob lynching is the son of the deceased Kamrul Sheikh, an ambulance driver from the Laxmipasha Oil Pump area of ​​​​Sagor Sheikh Upazila.

According to local and police sources, a housewife named Sadia Akter Lamia (22) committed suicide by hanging herself by a veil in Chagalchira village of Lohagara union on Saturday morning. Police later recovered her body. The body was kept in an ambulance at night to be taken to the police station for legal proceedings.

The driver, Sagar Sheikh, was alone inside the ambulance late at night. At that time, he tried to rape Sadia’s body. Upon realizing the incident, Sadia’s mother went there and caught him red-handed.

Sadia’s mother said that Sagar Sheikh was trying to rape her daughter by removing her clothes. The windows of the ambulance were covered with towels so that the inside could not be seen from the outside.

Upon learning of the incident, local people detained Sagar Sheikh, flogged him, and then informed the police. The police later arrested him and took him to the police station.

Police Inspector (Investigation) of Lohagara Police Station Ajit Kumar Roy said today, Monday, August 31, “The accused Sagar Sheikh has been arrested. Legal action will be taken against him.”
