Awami League rally in Gulshan, OC closed five days later

Five days after the Awami League procession in the capital’s Gulshan, Gulshan Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Dawood Hossain has been closed. He has been attached to the Central Reserve Office of the Administration Division of the DMP headquarters citing administrative reasons.

On Wednesday, September 16, an office order signed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed announced the closure of Dawood Hossain.

According to the order, he was attached to the Central Reserve Office of the DMP Headquarters and the Administration Department on the morning of September 16. At the same time, it has been said that the order will be implemented from the day of issuance.

Earlier, on Friday, September 11, at around 12:15 pm, leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations took out a procession in an alley adjacent to KFC on Road No. 3 under Gulshan Police Station in the capital.

Police claimed that the marchers threw cocktails when they tried to disperse the procession. Police claimed to have arrested two people red-handed from the scene and recovered five cocktails.

Police have arrested at least 75 people so far in connection with the Gulshan procession following that incident.
