Afghanistan, riding on captain Rahmat Shah’s unbeaten 67, defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets to knock them out of the ongoing tri-nation ODI series. The Afghans beat Bangladesh at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday to secure their second consecutive win in the competition and set up a final against Zimbabwe at the same venue on Friday.

Chasing a target of 161 runs, Afghanistan achieved the target in 35.3 overs. Bangladesh needed to bowl out Afghanistan within 120 runs to secure a ticket to the final. However, the bowlers, with limited resources, failed to do so. This is Afghanistan’s fifth consecutive win against Bangladesh in this format.

Pacer Taskin Ahmed took two wickets and pacer Mustafizur Rahman took one wicket for Bangladesh.
Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat, Bangladesh were bowled out for 160 in 41.2 overs under the batting of Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan. Rashid Khan took 4 wickets for 31 runs.

Parvez Hossain Emon single-handedly pulled off a 96-ball 70 for Bangladesh. His 93-run partnership with Saif Hasan (41 off 82 balls) for the fifth wicket gave some hope to the team that was 28 for four. However, the Tigers were eventually bowled out for 39 runs after losing their last six wickets.

Four of Bangladesh’s top order batsmen were dismissed in the powerplay. Tanjid Hasan Tamim scored 1 run and Soumya Sarkar was out for a duck. Captain Towhid Hridoy was out for a duck after two balls. Nazmul Hossain Shanto was dismissed for 15 runs.

Off-spinner Alish Al Islam made his ODI debut for Bangladesh in this match. Parvez Hossain Emon and Mehdi Hasan Miraj also got a chance in the team.
