A clash broke out between Chhatra Dal and the underground organization Shibir over dominance in Muladi, Barisal. At least 25 people from both sides were injured in the incident. It is said that 20 of them are from Shibir and 5 from Chhatra Dal.

The clash took place on the Muladi Government College campus on Thursday afternoon, September 11. Among the injured are about 20 members of Shibir and 5 members of Chhatra Dal. Six seriously injured members of Shibir have been admitted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

The injured Shibir workers alleged that a preparatory meeting for an event to be organized by Shibir at the college on September 23 was going on. At that time, a sudden attack was launched under the leadership of the Upazila Chhatra Dal convener. At that time, they started shouting ‘sad’ slogans like ‘Jamaat-Shibir Razakars, give up Bengal at this moment’.

Six of the injured Shibirs have been admitted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

However, the Chhatra Dal denied the allegations and said that the leaders and activists of the secret organization Shibir were the first to attack the college campus by preventing their leaders from entering it and beat and injured at least 5 members of the Chhatra Dal. The injured are admitted to the Upazila Health Complex.

Muladi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shafiqul Islam said, “Yesterday, at the college’s 11th grade exam results announcement ceremony, some Chhatra Dal leaders expressed anger on behalf of the Shibir when they were on stage. This incident led to a clash today. However, after receiving the information, the police arrived and stopped both sides, thus avoiding a major accident.”

He also said that the injury occurred before the police arrived.
