It seems like a terrible curse has fallen upon Bangladesh today. The innocent children whose small, sweet faces light up the world when they smile are the victims of brutal cruelty today.

In just four months (January-April 2026), 56 children under the age of 12 were raped!

According to the Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK), a total of 180 rape cases occurred during this period, of which 81 were under the age of 18. These numbers are not just statistics—behind each number is a broken childhood, the cries of a terrified mother, a silent cry that will never stop.

This number is increasing year after year. In 2025, 148 girls aged 7-12 were raped. The number of abuses against children below the age of 6 has also increased alarmingly. Yet society is still asleep.

The most tragic thing is that in most cases the perpetrator is not a stranger. It is a neighbor, relative, madrasa teacher, or acquaintance. This heinous crime is committed in the place of trust in whom the child is released.

Recently, the country was shaken by the incident of an 11-year-old madrasa student in Madan Upazila of Netrokona becoming seven months pregnant. The madrasa teacher was the accused.

Today, a cute 7-year-old girl named Ramisa was raped and then dismembered and murdered in Mirpur.

These statistics are only for girls. If the number of boys receiving Islamic education in madrasas is added, an even more horrifying picture will emerge.

Looking at the statistics, it seems as if someone is trying to psychologically break the new generation through trauma, brutally and brutally, in a well-planned manner.

What did these children do wrong? They just wanted to play, grow up, dream. But our society has failed to provide them with a safe haven. Criminals are rising again and again under the shadow of impunity, social shame, and influence. Now is the time to wake up.

Every parent, every citizen, every institution must ask themselves—are our children really safe? Or are we pushing them to the brink of death every day?

Until there is strict legal action, social awareness and moral revival against this brutality, our society will remain tarnished. We cannot allow the tears of our children to be wiped away.
