Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, said he wants to build a humane Bangladesh through the participation of all religious groups.

He said, “In terms of our identity, mountains, plains, ethnicity, or religion cannot be a reason for division. We are all citizens of Bangladesh, we are Bangladeshis.”

He said this while delivering a speech as the chief guest at the ‘Dhaka Wangala-2026’ organized at the Banani Vidyaniketan School and College grounds in the capital on Friday, November 6.

The Deputy Speaker claimed that this year’s Durga Puja was very festive in post-independence Bangladesh. Such a joyful and festive Durga Puja has never been celebrated in this country before. One of the reasons for this is that the rule of law has been established in the country and we have regained a democratic Bangladesh, where everyone has the right to speak regardless of race, religion, and caste.

He said, “We are able to fully enjoy religious freedom because we have established human rights and constitutional rights.”

The Deputy Speaker said that Ziaur Rahman was the first to establish 10 cultural academies in this country by uniting all classes and groups of Bangladesh, including one in Durgapur, Netrokona. These institutions play an important role in preserving the country’s cultural diversity and heritage.

He said, “We want to further expand the activities of the Cultural Academy.”

He assured that initiatives to establish a cultural academy and a church in the Banani area will be taken soon.

The Deputy Speaker said that on the occasion of the upcoming Christmas celebrations, Christians had requested a donation of Tk 2 crore from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Sympathizing with the Christian religion, the Prime Minister has ordered a donation of Tk 3 crore, which is Tk 1 crore more than the request, to make their festival more lively.

He said that Bangladesh wants to see the leadership of a Prime Minister who will work to establish the rights of every person while being compassionate towards all religions, humanity, and the people of Bangladesh.

Barrister Kaiser Kamal said, “We have got a new democratic Bangladesh after being freed from fascism for a long decade and a half. We want to forget the past and establish a Bangladesh in the future with the participation of everyone where everyone has human dignity, equality is established and civil rights are ensured.”

He sought the cooperation of everyone, regardless of class, religion, and caste, to further strengthen and uphold democracy.

The program was presided over by the Nokma of ‘Dhaka Wangala-2026’, John Drong.
