The claim that Dr. Muhammad Yunus’ name appears in Jeffrey Epstein’s recent files or documents has been widely circulated on social media, especially in the context of Bangladesh. The main source of this claim is an email sent by a person named Al Seckel.
Al-Sekal was a longtime associate of Epstein and the husband of Isabel Maxwell, the sister of Ghislaine Maxwell. Isabel Maxwell worked with Dr. Yunus for many years as a senior advisor to Grameen America.

The content of Al Sekel’s email

In an email dated September 27, 2010, Al Seckel claimed that he and his wife Isabel introduced Dr. Yunus to Matt Groening, creator of the cartoon series “The Simpsons.” As a result, Dr. Yunus appeared as a guest character in an episode of “The Simpsons.” The episode was called “Loan-a Lisa” (Season 22, Episode 2), which aired October 3, 2010. (The previous episode, “Elementary School Musical,” aired September 26, but Yunus’s appearance was in “Loan-a Lisa,” which dealt with microfinance.)

This email is being claimed on social media to have been published in a recent document release (from the DOJ or court files) related to Epstein. In it, Dr. Yunus is mentioned as “our very good friend”. That is, Dr. Yunus had a good friendship with the Epstein syndicate and Dr. Yunus was connected to the Epstein network. In the Epstein files released so far (various releases from 2024-2025, such as the documents of the Giuffre vs. Maxwell case or DOJ files), Dr. Yunus’s name is not directly mentioned in connection with any allegations, sexual abuse or crimes. The reason for the name to come up is mainly due to professional/social contacts of Jeffrey Epstein’s network through Isabel Maxwell. Isabel was an advisor to Grameen America, which created indirect links with the Epstein circle.

Other files mention Yunus’s presence at a pitch deck for Rural America or a Clinton Foundation event. No new “bombshell” evidence against Dr. Yunus has yet emerged in the recent (2025-2026) releases, or has yet to be released.

Many posts on X (Twitter) refer to Dr. Yunus as a “client” or “friend” of Epstein, mainly through direct and indirect contacts. Some posts mention the Epstein Black Book connection of Grameen-Jamil’s Saudi board member, Mohammed Abdul Latif Jamil.

Dr. Yunus or his associates have not yet made any official response to this issue. However, it has further complicated the ongoing political debate against him.
