Gupto Shibir Leader Detained With Young Woman in Allegedly Compromising Situation at Mess, Claims: “I Came for Religious Work; People Are Misunderstanding”

Police have arrested a young man named Momtazir Billah (26) along with a young woman from a bachelor’s mess in Mujgunni residential area under Khalishpur police station in Khulna city.

Momtazir is the son of Golam Farooq, chairman of Islamkati Union Parishad in Tala Upazila of Satkhira and a local Jamaat-e-Islami leader.

Momtazir Billah himself is involved in the politics of the underground organization Chhatra Shibir. His organizational title was not immediately known.

They were arrested from the fourth-floor mess of a residential building on Road No. 21 in the Mujgunni area at around 3:30 pm on Sunday, October 25.

According to local and police sources, on Sunday afternoon, Momtazir Billah entered a room of the mess in the Mujgunni area with a young woman. The other bachelor residents of the mess, who had been witnessing such incidents for a long time, did not have the courage to protest. However, this time they stood up. The residents of the mess and locals raided and detained them in an objectionable condition.

When caught, Mamataji claimed that she had come for religious work, but people were misunderstanding her.

When such exciting news spread in the area, an eager crowd gathered in front of the building.

Upon receiving the information, Khalishpur police station quickly reached the spot. Later, in the presence of locals, the police rescued the young man and woman and took them to the police station.

Locals said that Momtazir Billah often brought women of all ages to this mess to spend time with. But the locals did not dare to talk about it because the son of an influential leader and terrorists from Jamaat-Shibir guarded him.

However, after witnessing such incidents for a long time, the locals became angry. Some protesting youths now stood up against the immoral actions of the son of the leader of the religious party.

Confirming the incident, Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Deputy Commissioner Sudarshan Roy said that the two were brought to the police station from the mess based on information given by locals. They are currently being interrogated intensively.

Khalishpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shahjahan said that the process of taking further legal action in this incident is currently underway.
