Dhaka, January 1, 2026: Professor Dr. Md. Sayedur Rahman, Special Assistant (with the rank of State Minister) to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the interim government, was reappointed to the same post on Thursday, a day after he resigned on Wednesday. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Cabinet Division.
Professor Sayedur Rahman said he resigned as part of the retirement process after his term ended. “I will be appointed to the same position again and perform the same duties. I seek everyone’s blessings and cooperation,” he added.
In his Facebook post on Wednesday morning, he wrote, “Today is the last day of my working life. My resignation letter requesting exemption from special state duties for the purpose of retirement was accepted yesterday.”
Former Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University (formerly Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University), Professor Dr. Sayedur Rahman, had been serving in this important position in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare since last November.
Sources said that the process of re-appointment after retirement has been completed as per government norms. As a result, his experience and leadership in the health sector will continue.
