Hefazat-e-Islam Says Reports of Sexual Abuse in Madrasas Are Part of a Continuing Campaign of ‘Secular and Brahmanical Propaganda’

The extremist organization Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has claimed that the incidents of sexual assault are a result of continuous propaganda against Qawmi Madrasas.

In a statement sent to the media on Tuesday night, July 28, the organization’s Amir Shah Muhibbullah Babunagri and Secretary General Sajedur Rahman condemned such behavior.

Calling the incidents of rape and sexual assault “alleged,” the organization’s leaders claim that Qaumi madrasas have become targets of secularists.

According to the extremist organization, there is a systematic propaganda campaign against Qaumi madrasas, centered on some allegations of sexual abuse reported in the media. Due to their long-standing role in anti-Brahminism, supremacism, and fascism, and for keeping Islam at the center of power in Bangladesh, Qaumi madrasas have become targets of hateful secular progressives.

They said that whenever Islamic values, freedom and sovereignty have been attacked in this country, the Qawmi Madrasa, which carries the legacy of the anti-British movement, has stood up to defend it.

This extremist organization claims, “The Qawmi Madrasa-based organization Hefazat-e-Islam led the resistance to the anti-Bangladesh Shahbagi force.”

Top leaders of Hefazat called on the directors of the institutions to take stricter measures to ensure the quality of education, environment, and safety of students in all small and large madrasas in the country.
