Five days before the start of the ICC Champions Trophy, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the prize money details for the tournament. A total of $6.9 million, approximately 84 crore Bangladeshi taka, will be distributed across various categories—53% more than the last edition in 2017.
According to the ICC’s announcement, the champion team will receive $2.24 million along with the coveted trophy. The runner-up team will take home $1.12 million, while the two semi-finalists will earn $560,000 each.
The rewards extend further: the fifth and sixth-placed teams will receive $350,000 each, while the seventh and eighth-placed teams will earn $140,000 each. Additionally, all participating teams will be awarded $125,000 simply for taking part in the tournament. Teams will also have the chance to earn bonuses in the group stage, with each victory worth over $34,000.
The Champions Trophy begins on February 19 with a match between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi. Group A comprises Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and New Zealand, while Group B includes Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
The first semi-final will be held in Dubai, with the second in Lahore. If India qualifies for the final, the championship match will take place in Dubai. Otherwise, the final will be held in Lahore.
