Narayanganj MP orders identification and listing of Gopalganj natives serving in the police, labeling them as ‘Gopali’

After sarcastically calling Gopalganj residents working in the Narayanganj District Police as ‘Gopali’, BNP MP for Narayanganj-3 Azharul Islam Mannan ordered a list to be prepared by identifying them.

While addressing the monthly law and order committee meeting at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Sunday afternoon, August 9, the MP asked the Superintendent of Police and the Deputy Commissioner for a list of these.

Azharul Islam Mannan said, “If I have to say one thing, it falls on the SP. Still, I will say it. I will also say this to the Home Minister. Today I am going to Dhaka. Before August 5, the entire Narayanganj district administration was filled with ‘gopalis’. Now, they are again being terrorized by those gopalis. The entire Narayanganj district is being terrorized by gopalis. How will law and order be good? Will the gopalis want us well? They won’t.”

District Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman Munshi was also present at the meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Raihan Kabir.

The MP said, “We want a list of this. Whose country is it, who is in which police station in Narayanganj, we want a list of this. We want a list. Again, the whole of Narayanganj is filled with those Gopalis.”

At the law and order committee meeting, he also accused BIWTA officials of extortion on the river route, saying that the extortion starts before the sand bulkheads from the Meghna or other rivers enter. Or they give extortion on mobile phones, I don’t know how. BIWTA officers are also involved in this.

Accusing Titas Gas Company officials of illegal gas connections in his constituency Sonargaon, Azharul Islam Mannan said that 65,000 gas lines in Sonargaon are illegal.

He claimed that these illegal gas connections were provided to Sonargaon, Rupganj and Arai Hazar during the Awami League era.

The MP said, “If a case is filed for illegal gas lines, then Titas Gas officials will be made the number one accused, so you will see that everything has gone wrong. But to be honest, I have given orders to my police station – to beat up Titas Gas officials first. They do all kinds of illegal things.”

Narayanganj-5 MP Abul Kalam and Narayanganj Development Authority Chairman Masukul Islam Raji were also present at the meeting.
