Power Went Out Just as the Prime Minister’s Live Broadcast Began, and Returned After the Speech Ended

Anger has arisen over the incident of a power outage during the live broadcast of Tarique Rahman’s speech in Kawkhali, Pirojpur.

A virtual conference with the Prime Minister was organized at the Upazila Auditorium on Saturday, September 12, at 9 am to strengthen the nationwide cleanliness drive.

The power went out in the upazila auditorium just a minute after Tarique Rahman’s speech began. The power came back on about 30 seconds after the speech ended. However, the power supply was normal in the entire upazila at that time, said the concerned officials.

Such an incident in front of everyone present at the event caused anger among the locals.

Expressing anger over the matter, Upazila BNP President and former Upazila Chairman SM Ahsan Kabir demanded an impartial investigation into the incident and prompt legal action against those responsible.

In this regard, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Raisul Islam said that instructions had been given to the Rural Electricity Authority in advance to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the event. The matter will be looked into seriously and necessary measures will be taken.

Pirojpur Rural Electricity General Manager Md. Altaf Hossain also assured to take administrative action after conducting a proper investigation into the incident.
