In Atwari, Panchagarh, National Citizen’s Party (NCP) leader Sarjis Alam held a secret meeting with government officials. The meeting took place on Thursday noon at the conference room of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO). During this time, an argument broke out between Sarjis Alam and BNP leader Motiur Rahman, with Sarjis threatening him to lower his voice.

After the meeting, when BNP leader Motiur Rahman questioned the officials, Sarjis Alam intervened. At one point, Sarjis made sarcastic remarks targeting BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. He said, “If Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir can do it as the party’s secretary general, then so can I.”

The NCP leader claimed that he had gone to discuss local issues with the government officials. However, the BNP condemned the meeting as a “secret gathering.” BNP leader Motiur Rahman stated that when he went to the Upazila Parishad, he found all the officials in a meeting with Sarjis Alam. He reported the matter to higher authorities.

Dismissing the incident, Sarjis Alam said, “They can’t do anything themselves and can’t tolerate others taking action.” Meanwhile, the local administration has yet to issue any official statement regarding the incident.
