President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for an end to the culture of political conflict and revenge. He urged all political forces to work together to build consensus and understanding for the country’s progress.

He made these remarks when a delegation of the MBA Association of Bangladesh (MAB) paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban on Thursday, according to a press release from the President’s Press Wing.

The President said,

“Everyone must work together for the country, breaking away from the political culture of blaming each other, harming opponents, and harassing through lawsuits. Without political compromise, the country cannot move forward properly.”

 

Referring to Nelson Mandela’s role in South Africa’s political transformation, he said,

Political reconciliation there has brought an end to long-standing conflict and bloodshed, creating a peaceful environment. He also commented that political foresight, tolerance and mutual understanding are essential to move the country forward.

Praising the role of MAB, the President said that the organization has demonstrated its expertise in various fields and is contributing to the development and progress of the country. According to him, the organization has also played a role in increasing public awareness and assisting in the democratic transition through research-based and fact-based presentations, contrary to the false information spread by the previous government.

The President further said that professional organizations like MAB can contribute to national development by providing expert opinions and constructive suggestions on important issues. He also emphasized the importance of involving qualified and skilled members of the organization in important institutions and development activities, taking into account their experience and professional skills.

During the meeting, the members of the MAB delegation congratulated the President and praised his political and professional experience, wisdom and leadership. Recalling his past cooperation and encouragement in the activities of the organization, they sought his advice and assistance in the future as well. The President assured them of his cooperation.
