Police have arrested Md. Alauddin (40), the convener of the municipal Swechchhasebak Dal, in a cow theft case in Daganbhuiyan, Feni.

He was arrested from his home early Wednesday morning, October 22. He was sent to court in the afternoon on a charge of theft.

The arrested Md. Alauddin Daganbhuiyan is the convener of the Municipal Swechchhasebak Dal and a resident of Alaiyarpur village of the municipality. He is a follower of BNP Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu.

According to police and related sources, Alauddin has been involved in cow theft in various areas of Feni and Noakhali districts for a long time. A few days ago, he was arrested red-handed with stolen cows in Noakhali. Recently, evidence of his involvement in cow theft incidents in various places in Daganbhuiyan has been found.

The police conducted a raid and arrested him in this incident.

Meanwhile, his wife Shirin Akhter has sought his release, claiming that her husband was framed in a false case.

Daganbhuiyan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Wahid Parvez said that there are three cow theft cases against Alauddin in Companiganj and Daganbhuiyan police stations. He is a known thief. During initial interrogation, he confessed to stealing the cows.
