Mob attack by Chhatra Dal activists on Chhatra League worker, ordinary people step in to protect

Tensions flared in the capital’s busiest Jamuna Future Park area on Thursday over a protest march by the Chhatra League. A video of the incident that took place after the march at Kuril intersection on Pragati Sarani went viral.

In the video, Chhatra League activists are seen marching forward with the slogan ‘Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu’. At that time, a group of Chhatra Dal terrorists ambushed them from behind. The terrorists chased and caught a young Chhatra League activist. The mob attacked him.

However, before a major incident could occur, the injured Chhatra League activist was saved from serious injury when a brave passerby and local people acted as a shield.

According to local sources and eyewitnesses, during a protest march on Thursday, September 24, a group of terrorists led by Dhaka Metropolitan North Chhatra Dal’s Deputy General Secretary Maqbul Bhuiyan suddenly surrounded the Chhatra League activist and started beating him indiscriminately.

At that very moment, a passerby, regardless of his own safety, quickly came forward. He stood up against the Chhatra Dal terrorists. And in a moment, nearby businessmen and locals came forward to help him. With their joint resistance and courage, the attacking Chhatra Dal terrorists were forced to retreat. It was possible to safely evacuate the injured Chhatra League worker.

Eyewitnesses said that an unpleasant terrorist incident was averted due to such spontaneous protest and support from the general public. Although there was widespread discussion and criticism in the area about the incident, no official statement from the police or information about filing a case was available at the time of writing this report.
