Bangladesh team is already in a corner after losing by a big margin to Zimbabwe at the beginning of the tri-series. In this situation, Towhid Hridoyra was also punished for a slow over-rate. The ICC has fined Bangladesh 5 percent of the match fee due to a slow over-rate.
The ICC announced the punishment in a press release on Monday.
ICC match referee David Gilbert imposed the fine for bowling one over less than the scheduled time in last Saturday’s match in Abu Dhabi.
According to ICC rules, players are fined 5 percent of their match fee for bowling fewer overs per over within the stipulated time.
Bangladesh’s acting captain, Towhid Hridoy, admitted his mistake and accepted the punishment, thus eliminating the need for a hearing.
The allegations were made by two on-field umpires, Allahudien Paleker and Izatullah Safi, third umpire Ahsan Raja and fourth umpire Ahmed Shah Durrani.
Bangladesh lost to Zimbabwe by 99 runs in that match. In response to 272 runs, Towhid Hridoy’s team was all out for 172 runs in 33.4 overs.
