Allegations of personal relationships, extramarital affairs, and sexual harassment have surfaced against several officials and former officials of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the agency responsible for taking action against corruption.

It is also known that most of these complaints have been raised by the wives of the officers concerned. Many officials believe that the number of extramarital affairs and sexual harassment cases at the ACC is also increasing due to the lack of effective investigation and accountability for the complaints.

Allegations surrounding ACC secretary

Allegations of personal relationships have surfaced surrounding ACC Secretary Saidur Rahman Khan. It is alleged that he has a close relationship with Brahmanbaria BNP MP for reserved women’s seat Meherun Nesa Mehreen. The ACC Secretary is already in the news after several screenshots of their conversation were circulated on social media.

Netizens on social media have also claimed that they were seen together at various restaurants. It is also reported that these issues have created conflict in their family life.

Although the organization has informally complained to Secretary Saidur Rahman Khan’s wife Dudu in this regard, no effective action has been taken yet.

Sexual harassment allegations against former director general

Former ACC Director General Mohammad Shahiduzzaman was also accused of sexual harassment by a female colleague. This incident is still discussed among many officials in many ACC rooms as an example of sexual harassment.

At that time, the female officer complained to the ACC about this, but the ACC did not take any action. It is alleged that Shahiduzzaman used his influence to cover up the incident.

Wife files case against deputy director

On October 20, 2015, the wife of ACC head office deputy director Mohammad Salahuddin filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at the capital’s Khilgaon Police Station. The allegation was that Salahuddin had caused her conflict due to his extramarital affairs with various women.

Due to this quarrel, Salahuddin used to beat his wife regularly. When the torture reached the point of violence, his wife was forced to file a case against her husband. Later, Mohammad Salahuddin was released on bail.

Family complaints surrounding former director

Former ACC director Khan Mizan is also facing allegations of family ties. According to the complaint, his wife accused him of having an immoral relationship with her sister and informally reported the matter to the ACC.

However, the then commission did not take any action in this regard. However, although no action was taken against Khan Mizan regarding his wife’s allegations of extramarital affairs, he was dismissed a few days later on charges of accepting bribes without any notice.

Allegations surrounding the current Director General

The current Director General of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Mohammad Nazmul Hasan, has been accused by his wife, Nazneen Sultana, of having an immoral relationship with ACC Deputy Director Sharika Islam. There is also widespread discussion among colleagues about their behavior within the office.

However, the ACC has not taken any investigative action in this regard so far.

In addition, many other incidents of extramarital affairs and sexual harassment at the ACC have been reported to officials, but have not come to light due to a lack of proper evidence and allegations.

Therefore, most ACC officials and employees believe that it is important to ensure impartial investigations, evidence-based decisions, and proper accountability in cases of personal and professional misconduct allegations against ACC officials.

They believe that if an allegation is proven, action should be taken according to existing laws and employment rules, and the rights and dignity of the individuals concerned should also be protected until the allegation is proven.
