After Balochistan, Signs of Unrest Are Also Emerging in Kashmir

Muzaffarabad, July 30, 2026: Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) has witnessed widespread unrest and protests in recent days. Following the ongoing insurgency in Balochistan, discontent among the local population is intensifying in Kashmir as well.

According to local sources and videos posted on social media, protesters in Muzaffarabad, Rawalpindi, Neelam and other areas are chanting slogans against the Pakistani administration. The protests are said to be mainly motivated by economic crisis, acute shortage of electricity and water, high prices in the market and anger against Pakistan’s control over local resources.

Protesters have been accusing the Pakistani government of exploiting Kashmir but not ensuring the basic rights and development of the local people. In recent days, there have been clashes between protesters and police at several places. There have been allegations that security forces have used lathicharge and tear gas to disperse the protests.

Discontent is also growing among political parties in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, with some leaders calling for the demands of the local people to be accepted, while others are calling it an “Indian conspiracy.”

The Pakistani government has deployed additional security forces to control the situation, but there is still no sign of abating anger among the local population.

Analysts say that if unrest spreads to Kashmir after Balochistan, Pakistan’s internal security situation could become more complicated.
