Armed Robbers Hold Families Hostage and Loot 30 Bhori of Gold in Cox’s Bazar; Two Homes Targeted in a Single Night, Panic Grips Area

Family held hostage at gunpoint after CCTV camera connection was disconnected – Two brutal and sensational robberies broke the silence of the early hours of the morning in Eidgaon Upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

The attack by a gang of robbers in two separate unions of the upazila on the same night has spread extreme panic in the area. Two housewives who were seriously injured in the barbaric attack by the robbers are currently undergoing treatment at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.

These heinous robberies took place in Tekpara and Pokkhali unions of Islamabad union of the upazila in the early hours of Thursday, July 30th.

According to local and victim sources, an armed gang of 10 to 15 people attacked the house of former UP member Nuruchchafa in Tekpara, Islamabad Union, at around 3 am. This professional criminal gang first disconnected the CCTV camera after entering the house so that they would not have any evidence.

Then, holding the entire family hostage with country-made weapons, they brutally beat them. The robbers ransacked the entire house and looted a large sum of cash and about 30 baht of gold ornaments. A housewife was left bleeding and seriously injured in the attack by the robbers.

On the same night, a gang of robbers also raided the house of Mohammad Hoshon in the West Pokkhali area of ​​the neighboring Pokkhali Union. The criminals entered the house by cutting the window grill.

Similarly, they took family members hostage at gunpoint, beat them up, robbed them of cash, expensive mobile phones and gold ornaments, and fled in a flash. A housewife was seriously injured in the attack on this house by the robbers as well.

Upon receiving the news in the morning, a special team of Eidgaon Police Station quickly inspected both the incident sites.

Confirming the incident, Eidgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) ATM Shifatul Mazdar said, “As soon as the news of the incident was received, the police visited the scene. This heinous robbery and attack is being investigated seriously. A police operation is underway to identify the criminals and recover the looted goods. Details will be announced after the investigation is completed.”

Such a planned and brutal robbery incident in two unions on the same night has created intense panic and extreme anger throughout Eidgaon. Local residents have demanded the immediate arrest and punishment of those involved.
