The party has removed Jamaat’s Chandgaon police station chief Md. Ismail from his post after evidence of a secret affair with an expatriate’s wife surfaced. Professor Jasim Uddin has been appointed as the police station chief in his place.

A video has been obtained by the media showing Nagar Jamaat Ameer Nazrul Islam Ismail announcing his dismissal.

Regarding this, Nagar Jamaat’s organizing secretary Lutfar Rahman said, “I have learned that Md. Ismail has been removed and Jasim Uddin has been given a new responsibility. I cannot give any details.”

It is learned that in 2023, a woman from Kalauzan, Lohagara, joined IMCH as a doctor’s assistant on Ismail’s recommendation. The woman was promoted within a short time.

According to her husband’s family, her husband divorced her on December 18, 2024, after finding evidence of an extramarital affair with Ismail.

After the allegations were raised, Jamaat formed an investigation committee led by principal Khairul Bashar, who is a member of the Chittagong Metropolitan Council.

The committee submitted its report last Monday. Based on this, the party decided on Wednesday to remove Ismail from the post and give a new post to Jasim Uddin.

Jasim Uddin, acknowledging the responsibility, said that he was asked to take charge of Chandgaon Police Station on Wednesday.

He avoided the embarrassing reason why he was given the responsibility in place of Ismail, claiming that he “does not know the detailed reason.”

When Md. Ismail was called to inquire about his statement in this regard, he did not receive it.
