National Citizen Party Set to Launch, Leaving Many Behind and Positions Vacant

The process of forming a new political party has been finalized. The “National Citizen Committee” and the “Anti-Discrimination Student Movement” are jointly establishing a new party, which will be named the “National Citizen Party” (NCP).

This decision was made during a joint meeting held from Thursday afternoon (February 27) until evening at the central office of the National Citizen Committee in Banglamotor, Dhaka. The meeting was attended by four top leaders of the National Citizen Committee, who finalized the party’s name and leadership positions.

Nahid Islam has been appointed as the party’s convener, and Akhtar Hossain as the member secretary. Additionally, Nasiruddin Patwari has been nominated as the chief coordinator, Hasnat Abdullah as the chief organizer for the southern region, and Sarjis Alam as the chief organizer for the northern region.

However, the positions of senior joint convener and senior joint member secretary remain undecided due to multiple candidates vying for these roles.

The formal launch of the new party will take place on Friday (February 28) afternoon at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka. During the event, the names of the party’s top leaders will also be announced.
