Rizvi Expresses Concern Over Extrajudicial Killings

BNP senior leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi expressed deep concern on Saturday over the death of a BNP activist in Cumilla, questioning the occurrence of extrajudicial killings. Speaking at an event in Dhaka’s Naya Paltan, he asked, “Why should there be extrajudicial killings like in past regimes?”

Rizvi emphasized the growing fear in the country, saying, “If someone commits a crime, they should be arrested. Why would law enforcement kill people?”

Addressing a central committee introduction meeting of the group “Thikana Bangladesh” at Vashani Hall, he stated, “Although Dr. Yunus was not elected, he has the people’s support. However, his interim government must avoid situations that lead to extrajudicial killings.” Rizvi urged the interim government to act responsibly and with wisdom.

Speaking to students, Rizvi said, “Wild animals belong in the forest, children in their mothers’ arms, and students on campus. If students form committees in every ministry, businessmen will pursue them with bribes, leading to corruption.”

He advised students to stay rooted in campus activities, declaring, “Raise your voices there, saying, ‘We don’t want a regime like Sheikh Hasina’s.’ The people will listen if anyone behaves similarly.”

Rizvi expressed serious concern over the ongoing political unrest and incidents of extrajudicial killings across the country.
