There is not much time left for the national elections. In the meantime, a ship from the United States has arrived in Bangladesh with wheat. There have been various speculations in the public mind about this. Whether the wheat has arrived at all or something else is hidden behind the wheat – various questions are floating in the air. After the news of several shipments of weapons and drugs arriving from Pakistan by ship, questions have now arisen about the American ship.

According to Chittagong Port sources, the MV Evita ship carrying 56,890 tons of wheat from America has arrived at the port’s outer anchorage under the cash purchase agreement G2G-2 based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the United States and the Yunus government.

This information was given in a press release signed by Imdad Hossain, Senior Information Officer and Public Relations Officer of the Food Ministry, on Sunday, December 28.

The notification said that wheat import activities from the United States have started on a government-to-government (G2G) basis and this consignment has arrived in the country as part of that.

The notification further mentioned that a total of 220,000 tonnes of wheat will be imported under the G2G-2 agreement. Of this, 56,890 tonnes of wheat has arrived as the first consignment on the MV Evita ship. Of this consignment, 34,134 tonnes of wheat will be unloaded at Chittagong Port and the remaining 22,756 tonnes at Mongla Port.

It is worth noting that 220,000 tons of wheat have already been imported under the G2G-1 agreement. Currently, sample testing of the wheat on board the ship is underway. Necessary measures will be taken to quickly unload the wheat after the sample testing.

Multiple sources related to the port say that special instructions have already been given to senior officials to quickly unload the cargo of the US ship, a directive that has further fueled speculation in the public mind.
