Zara resigns after collecting 4.7 million taka under NCP candidacy bid, hinting at secret deal

Tasneem Zara, the senior joint member secretary of the NCP, has resigned after confirming that she is not contesting the elections under the party’s banner. The party has already confirmed her resignation.

Donors have already expressed disappointment over his resignation after he had already raised 4.7 million taka through crowdfunding in the name of his candidacy for the NCP in the elections.

However, BD Digest’s investigation has already revealed indications of a secret agreement.

Many on social media are writing in anger that the supporters of the July protests, who had donated to the NCP and Zara as a new party, have now been betrayed by Zara’s resignation. Some have also commented that a leader who cannot stick to his decision is unfit for politics.

However, regarding the resignation, Zara said that as a child of Khilgaon, his dream was to serve the people of the area. Although he had plans to serve as an MP, in the current context, he has decided not to contest the elections for any specific party or alliance. However, he will contest as an independent candidate to protect the promise he made to the countrymen of building a new political culture.

Addressing the residents of Khilgaon, Sabujbagh and Mugda under Dhaka-9 constituency, she said, “As an independent candidate, I will not have a party office or a well-organized workforce. As your daughter, my only hope is you. I seek your support for my unwavering desire to work with honesty and integrity.”

According to the election rules, to participate as an independent candidate, supporting signatures of 4,693 voters of Dhaka-9 constituency are required. Stating that the work of collecting these signatures will start from tomorrow, he urged the locals to come forward spontaneously.

However, many voters in Dhaka-9 constituency told BD Digest that before the July riots, no one knew Zara in the area. Rather, a certain class of people knew her because of her sexual advertisements on YouTube. She has realized that she will not get votes in the area with this recognition. Therefore, she is talking about running as an independent candidate by pretending to resign.

A top leader of a leftist party in this constituency, on condition of anonymity, told BD Digest that the vote tally for this constituency has already been done. Zara has been taken on the back foot so that the votes of any Jamaat candidate are not divided during the division process. This is a very despicable and dirty political tactic.
