The arrests were made late Friday night, January 25, with assistance from local residents, confirmed Khulshi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mojibur Rahman.

The detained suspects include Md. Wazed (36), Md. Hossain (42), Rubel Hossain (25), Mohi Uddin (45), Abdus Sabur (37), Md. Yakub (35), Mozaher Alam (55), Md. Romel (41), Osman (24), Abdul Mannan (35), and Shawkat Akbar (28).

According to police and eyewitness accounts, a group of 13 arrived in a microbus at a multi-story building on Road No. 3 in Khulshi. Claiming to be intelligence officers, they tied up and blindfolded the building’s security guards before breaking into the eighth-floor apartment of Jamuna Oil Company’s former managing director, Gias Uddin Ansari.

At the time, Gias Uddin and his family were not home. The suspects broke down the door, ransacked the flat, and attempted to steal valuables. Alerted by the noise, other residents notified the police.

Police arrived promptly, detaining 11 members of the group while two managed to escape. Authorities recovered a Chinese axe, a toy pistol, and fake identification cards from the suspects.

Gias Uddin’s brother, Jalal Uddin Ansari, stated that the family was away during the incident, leaving the apartment vulnerable.

Faisal Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner (North) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, confirmed the arrests and stated that investigations are ongoing. Efforts are underway to apprehend the two fugitives, and further details will be disclosed soon.
