Staff Correspondent. October 27, 2026.

A scuffle and tension broke out between leaders and activists of two groups of BNP at a preparatory meeting organized at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo in preparation for the Bangladesh Prime Minister’s visit to Japan. The incident has sparked fresh discussions about the internal conflicts and groupings of the Japan BNP.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Dr. Shakirul Islam Khan, Japan BNP President Mir Rezaul Karim and leaders and activists of various levels of the party.

It has been alleged that during the meeting, Japan BNP Secretary Emdad Moni kicked the organization’s Vice President Masum Zakir. This incident created chaos in the meeting and tension spread between the two parties.

Kicking and scuffling between various factions of Japan-BNP took place at the Bangladesh Embassy in Japan during a meeting in preparation for the Prime Minister’s visit.

According to relevant sources, there are currently three to four separate groups active within the Japan BNP. It is known that these groups conduct party activities separately to maintain their dominance. Those concerned believe that this internal division is also affecting party activities.

Many rank-and-file members of the Japan BNP have expressed anger over the brawl and chaos at the embassy during crucial preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit to Japan. They allege that the party’s organizational image has been tarnished by the public exposure of internal disputes.

However, it was not possible to independently verify the statements and allegations of the relevant leaders regarding the incident of the scuffle.
