China stands by Iran, not a powerful Muslim state

Turkey, the first Muslim country to recognize Israel (1949), which is also a NATO member (1952) and known as a country with advanced military and economic power; or nuclear-powered Pakistan or any of the major economies in the Middle East, has not stood by Iran, but China has.

International media outlets have reported that China has announced its direct support for Iran amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

The Chinese government has announced $200,000 in emergency humanitarian aid following the deaths of students in a deadly US missile attack on a school in the southern Iranian city of Minab.

On March 13, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiaqun said that the assistance will be provided through the Red Crescent Society and is a symbol of standing with the families of the deceased and the injured.

Chinese spokesman Guo Jiaqun said that the attack on the school and the loss of innocent children’s lives are serious violations of international humanitarian law. China always believes in the spirit of humanity and will continue to stand by the Iranian people in this difficult time and cooperate with them to overcome the crisis.

He added that tensions in the Middle East pose a threat not only to regional but also to global security. The sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries must be respected, and all parties must immediately cease military operations and return to dialogue to prevent the conflict from spreading.

Earlier, on February 28, at least 165 students were killed in a US Tomahawk missile attack on the Shajarah Tayyiba Primary School in the southern Iranian city of Minab. So far, about 1,400 people, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Al Khamenei, have been killed in joint US-Israeli attacks in Iran.
