Dhaka, 20 September 2026: The ‘Dhaka Lockdown’ program announced by the Bangladesh Awami Jubo League to protest against illegal and arbitrary trials has been observed nationwide with the spontaneous participation of people from all walks of life, the organization has claimed. At the same time, the Bangladesh Awami Jubo League expressed its sincere gratitude to the countrymen for their solidarity and cooperation in the program.

The Jubo League said that people in various districts, metropolises, upazilas, unions and remote areas of the country, including the capital Dhaka, have expressed solidarity with the program organized on Sunday. The organization claims that the people’s participation and support are an expression of the anger, protest and expectation for justice prevailing in the country.

Earlier, on September 16, the Jubo League announced the ‘Dhaka Lockdown’ program on September 20. To make the program a success, a nationwide demonstration and protest program was also announced from September 16 to 19.

Jubo League says that the program, held through the spontaneous participation of the people, has highlighted the people’s stance towards the demands of democratic rights, rule of law and justice. The organization says that through this program, the path of their political movement under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina has become easier.

Jubo League has thanked everyone who directly and indirectly cooperated in the successful and orderly implementation of the ‘Dhaka Lockdown’ program and expressed solidarity from different parts of the country. On behalf of the organization’s Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and General Secretary Alhaj Md. Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, gratitude has also been expressed to the national leaders of Bangladesh Awami League, leaders of allied and fraternal organizations, and people from different classes and professions of the society.

Meanwhile, law enforcement activities were intensified in various parts of the country, including the capital, surrounding the program. Various media reports have reported additional security, checkposts, processions, and isolated cocktail explosions and arson at important places in the capital.

The Jubo League statement said, ‘This is a war of truth against lies, of light against darkness.’ Calling for the removal of darkness to protect the country and its people, the organization said that their political expectation is the return of Sheikh Hasina. The statement said that farmers, workers and hardworking people are waiting for Sheikh Hasina’s return and the liberation of Bangladesh is possible under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter.

At the end of the statement, the Jubo League concluded its speech with the slogan ‘Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu’, stating that ‘the people’s victory is inevitable’.
