India not sending a team to Bangladesh for the tour

India was originally scheduled to play the ODI and T20 series in 2024. It was decided in 2023. However, after the fall of the Awami League government, extreme anarchy prevailed in Bangladesh, so they did not come. After discussing with the then board, a window of 2025 was sought.

Since there was no free time in 2025, the window was set for August-September 2026. At this time, many were hoping that relations with India would improve when Muhammad Yunus’s interim government ended and the BNP came to power. But that did not happen, and recently everything has been getting worse.

Last week, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was in India, came to a press conference. Her press conference was widely covered worldwide. But there was a ban on broadcasting this news in Bangladesh. In response to this press conference, the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry issued a statement. It contained very objectionable language.

India has repeatedly said that their government has no connection with any program of Sheikh Hasina and Awami League. They cannot stop anyone from doing anything. Meanwhile, after that press conference, a petrol bomb was thrown at the house of former captain Shakib Al Hasan. In this situation, India is also seeing a security risk in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh did not send a team to India to play the T20 World Cup this year, boycotting the World Cup. Bangladeshi cricketers are still criticizing this political decision. However, despite those mistakes, India was willing to send a team, but due to the increasing political hostility between the governments of the two countries, it is not seeing the light of day for now.
