Despite the lack of electricity in war-torn Gaza, journalists are still out. Wearing vests with the word ‘press’ written on them, they are shouting into a microphone on the dark streets, ‘A ceasefire agreement has been signed.’

Human rights activists believe that their announcement is helping to reduce the fear of the common people and make them hopeful.

Over the past two years, people around the world have expressed solidarity with the disaster in Gaza. Thousands of people have taken to the streets in New York, Mexico City, London, Rome and Paris to demand justice for the Palestinians.

However, despite the ceasefire, not all areas are yet safe.

Israeli forces say northern Gaza remains “extremely dangerous,” with Gaza City and some areas in the north considered unsafe to return to. Movement there should only be allowed under government guidelines.
