Yunus’s appointees desperate to avoid responsibility for the interim government’s misdeeds

The leaders of the July Movement Student Coalition, the political party that appointed Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, are continuing their unsuccessful attempts to evade responsibility for the controversial decisions and misdeeds of the interim government.

This time, the National Citizens Party (NCP) has claimed that they knew nothing about the trade agreement signed with the United States.

NCP spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan said, “This agreement was made just three days before the elections. We were not aware of this.”

He also claimed that the party had no idea about such important decisions as they were not in the ‘kitchen cabinet’.

Political analysts believe that Yunus’s appointees and parties, faced with widespread criticism over the interim government’s controversial actions, especially economic and trade agreements, are now trying to deflect blame from public anger by blaming each other.

Many have called the signing of such an important agreement just before the election ‘mysterious’ and ‘against the interests of the people’.

Many are seeing this statement by the NCP as a ‘strategy of evading responsibility’. Because during the interim government, various political groups led by Yunus’ close associates were directly associated with the government. Now, when public anger is growing, critics have commented that there is an attempt to evade responsibility by saying things like “we didn’t know”.

The public reaction to this issue was also strong. Many people on social media raised the question – how could those who were in charge of running the government be ignorant about such an important trade agreement?

Time will tell how acceptable this position of the NCP will be. However, this tendency to evade responsibility for various actions of the interim government has already given rise to new debates in the political arena.
