Sewing Machine Meant for the Destitute and Extremely Poor Goes to BNP Leader, Vice-Chairman Candidate!

A fierce controversy has arisen over the incident of a female vice chairman candidate taking a sewing machine during a sewing machine distribution program among the poor in Raipur, Lakshmipur.

The woman’s name is Tanijala Akhter Tanni. She is the upazila-level leader of the BNP’s women’s party.

Although these sewing machines were provided as part of government or humanitarian assistance to make poor and needy women self-reliant, they were received by an influential female vice-chairman candidate of the upazila.

After the matter was revealed, there was intense anger on social media and questions were raised about the transparency of the distribution of grants.

It is learned that the allocated grant from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s relief fund has been distributed in favor of Abul Khair Bhuiyan, MP for Lakshmipur-2 constituency.

Recently, a program was organized to distribute sewing machines, cash among the poor, and wheelchairs among the disabled in Raipur Upazila.
