BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain has issued a stern warning to the interim government, demanding the immediate announcement of the national parliamentary election schedule. He stated that such an announcement would allow for a respectful transfer of power. Any attempt to delay the election further will not succeed, he emphasized.
He made these remarks on Tuesday, March 18, at a prayer and memorial meeting held at the Abdus Salam Hall of the National Press Club. The event was organized on the 14th death anniversary of BNP’s late Secretary-General Khandaker Delwar Hossain.
Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain underscored the importance of voting rights, saying, “We understand the rights of the people as their right to vote. Announce the election schedule immediately so the public can focus on the election. If the public is engaged in the election, no conspiracy can take root in this country. The people themselves will thwart such conspiracies.”
The meeting was presided over by Akbar Hossain Babul, the elder son of Khandaker Delwar Hossain. Other speakers at the event included BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Zainul Abdin Farroque, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, and Bangladesh Labour Party Chairman Dr. Mostafizur Rahman Iran.
