Chhatra Dal leader Zubayd dies in stabbing in Old Dhaka

A student of Jagannath University named Zubayed Hossain was stabbed to death in Old Dhaka.

The incident took place on Sunday evening, October 19, on the way to her tuition. Rafiqul Islam, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Bangshal Police Station, confirmed that the body was found at her tuition’s house in Armanitola’s water pump lane.

He said, “Zubayed was stabbed to death. That house was his tuition house. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed. We are investigating.”

The deceased student, Zubayed Hossain, was a student of the Department of Statistics in the 2019-20 academic year. His village home is in Comilla. He was the president of Comilla District Student Welfare and the convening member of Jagannath University branch of Chhatra Dal.

University Proctor Professor Dr. Muhammad Tajammul Haque said, “I have heard the news of the death. The cause is not yet known. It is very painful. I have asked the police to check all the CCTV cameras. I am going to the spot.”
